About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Taenite Limited (“BBR”, “we”), which runs Bangladesh Business Review at bbr.com.bd. They apply whenever you use BBR: to read it, to write on it, or to manage a business listing.
Our community guidelines are part of these terms, and our privacy policy explains how we handle your personal data. If you don’t agree with these terms, please don’t use BBR.
Nothing in these terms takes away the rights the law of Bangladesh gives you, including your rights over your personal data.
Who can use BBR
- Anyone can read BBR. To have an account, you must be 18 or older.
- One account per person, used by that person only. A business has no account of its own: its owner manages its listing from their personal account.
- Use your own name, or a public name that doesn’t pretend to be someone else, a business or BBR.
- Give us an e-mail address that is yours. Writing reviews, upvoting, voting, reporting, adding businesses and claiming them need a verified address.
- You can’t use BBR while your account is suspended, or open another account to get round a suspension.
Your account
- Keep your password to yourself and don’t share your account: you are responsible for what is done with it. For extra safety, add a passkey or two-factor authentication in your settings.
- Tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
- You can delete your account in your settings at any time. Our privacy policy explains what happens to your content then.
Your content
Your reviews, photos, replies, blog posts and profile (“your content”) stay yours.
When you post content on BBR, you give BBR a free, non-exclusive, worldwide licence to store, copy, publish and show it, and to resize, crop or convert it, on BBR and in previews of BBR’s pages elsewhere, for example when someone shares a page on social media. The licence lasts as long as your content is on BBR. When you delete it, or your account, the licence ends, apart from copies in our backups until they are replaced, and pages that others have already shared.
Some content stays when you delete your account, because it is part of a business’s page: replies you posted as a business’s owner stay as the business’s replies, without your name, and the details and photos you added to a business’s listing stay with the listing. For these, the licence lasts as long as they are on BBR.
You confirm that your content is your own and based on your own experience, and that you may share every photo you upload, with the permission of anyone who can be recognised in it.
You are responsible for your content. Reviews appear as soon as they are sent, so we don’t check everything before it appears: we act on reports and on what our team finds.
Rules for everyone
Everything you post must follow our community guidelines. You must not:
- post fake reviews, reviews of a business you have a stake in, or reviews you were paid or rewarded for;
- manipulate ratings, upvotes, helpful votes or trending, alone or with others, or use more than one account;
- harass, threaten or impersonate anyone, or publish anyone’s personal information;
- post anything unlawful, such as false statements of fact that harm someone’s reputation, or content that infringes someone else’s rights;
- file a false claim to own a business, or reports you know to be unfounded;
- copy BBR’s content in bulk, or use bots, scrapers or other automated tools on BBR, except crawlers that follow our robots.txt;
- get round our limits, suspensions or security, or interfere with how BBR works.
Listings, claims and owners
- Anyone with an account can suggest a business. Our team checks each listing a member suggests before it goes live, and may correct, decline or take down listings.
- Our team also adds listings, and details of listings, from public sources, such as OpenStreetMap, online maps and businesses’ own websites and social media pages. These go live without the check we give members’ suggestions. A business, or the person behind one, can ask us to correct or remove what we added: report the listing on its page, or write to privacy@bbr.com.bd.
- Details on a listing come from members, from the business or from our team. We work to keep them right, but check what matters to you, such as opening hours, with the business itself.
- Only the owner of a business, or someone allowed to act for it, may claim its listing. We ask for proof, and may end an ownership later if it turns out to be wrong. We may suspend the account of anyone who files a false claim.
- Owners keep their listing accurate and reply to reviews within our guidelines. They can’t remove, hide or reorder reviews, and paying us changes nothing about reviews or ratings.
- Reviews describe real customers’ experiences, so the listing of an operating business stays on BBR even if its owner would rather it didn’t.
Moderation, suspensions and appeals
- We remove content that breaks these terms, our guidelines or the law. We tell the author of a removed review or blog post why, and the owner of a listing we take down; an owner’s reply our team deletes goes without a notice. A review that is reported stays visible while our team checks it.
- People on our team make every decision to remove content or to suspend an account. The only automatic step is flagging a review for a check after several members report it, and that hides nothing.
- We may suspend an account that breaks these terms seriously or again and again. A suspended member can’t sign in, and their reviews and posts come off BBR.
- If you think we got a decision wrong, write to us and someone on our team will look at it again.
Legal requests
- If you believe something on BBR breaks the law, send us a notice as our legal requests page explains. We look at every notice and tell the sender what we decided.
- We cooperate with the courts and authorities of Bangladesh as the law requires, and may keep or disclose information when a valid legal request requires it.
Reviews are opinions
Reviews and posts are the views of the members who wrote them, not of BBR. We check the listings members suggest and act on reports, but we can’t check every statement, and we don’t recommend or vouch for any business.
BBR is provided as it is. We work to keep it running and accurate, but we can’t promise that it will always be available, free of errors or complete.
Our responsibility
As far as the law allows, BBR is not responsible for losses that come from using BBR, from relying on what members post, or from dealing with a business listed on it. Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that the law doesn’t allow us to limit.
You are responsible for claims that others make against BBR because of content you posted in breach of these terms.
Ending your account
- You can stop using BBR and delete your account at any time. Your reviews, blog posts and profile are deleted with it. Replies you posted as a business’s owner, and the details and photos you added to a business’s listing, stay on the business’s page, without your name.
- We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. We may also change or close BBR, or part of it, and will tell you in advance where we can.
- A suspended account can’t be deleted, so that the suspension stays in force.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh.
If something goes wrong, please write to us first: most problems can be put right quickly. Disputes we can’t settle together go to the courts of Dhaka, Bangladesh.
Changes and contact
We will update these terms as BBR changes. When a change matters, we will say so on BBR before it takes effect. The date at the top of this page shows when they last changed.
Questions about these terms are welcome at support@bbr.com.bd. Our postal address is Taenite Limited, Banani, Dhaka, Bangladesh.
